Musaamo rules

Registration for Lessons

  • Student enrollment is automatically continued to the next semester.
  • New student enrollment becomes binding once confirmed by the Musaamo office. If a student cancels their registration before the semester starts, a cancellation fee of €50 will be charged.
  • If studies are discontinued mid-semester, the tuition fees for the current semester must be paid in full.
  • Individual, pair, and small group lesson schedules are agreed upon with the student (or guardian) just before the start of the lessons.
  • Musaamo reserves the right to cancel a course if the minimum number of participants is not met.

Cancellation of Enrollment

Student enrollment remains valid until the lesson spot is canceled. The cancellation notice must be made in writing to info@musaamo.fi by the following deadlines:

  • Enrollment for the upcoming autumn semester can be canceled by May 31.

  • Enrollment for the upcoming spring semester can be canceled by November 30.
If the cancellation is made after the deadline but before the start of the next semester, the lesson spot can still be canceled by paying a late cancellation fee of €50.
  • If studies are discontinued mid-semester, the tuition fees for the current semester must be paid in full.

Payments

  • Tuition fees for the academic year are invoiced in four installments: August, October, January, and March.
  • If studies begin mid-semester, only the remaining lessons will be billed.
  • Invoices are sent via email. Any changes to contact details must be reported to the Musaamo office immediately.
  • If a payment is delayed by more than four weeks, lessons will be suspended until payment is made. Missed lessons due to suspension will not be compensated. If payments are delayed further, Musaamo reserves the right to terminate the lesson spot even mid-semester.
  • We check credit records for new customers.

Absences

  • Students must not attend lessons while sick. Teachers have the right to send a student home if they deem them unfit to participate.
If a student is more than 15 minutes late to their lesson, the lesson is considered canceled.
  • Absences due to the student’s own reasons are not compensated (except for sick leaves longer than two weeks with a doctor’s certificate, which must be arranged separately with the Musaamo office). Teachers have specific teaching hours and strict schedules, making it impossible to reschedule lessons. This rule also applies to individually arranged lessons once a time has been confirmed with the teacher. This policy is standard in music education institutions.
  • If a teacher is absent, the lesson will be rescheduled, or a substitute teacher will conduct the lesson. Make-up lessons may also be arranged on weekends or at the end of the semester.

Options for student’s absence

Musaamo is committed to providing maximum value for tuition fees, which is why we have developed flexible options for making up missed lessons without creating additional workload for teachers:

  1. If a student cannot attend an in-person lesson, they are entitled to an online lesson at their scheduled time. Requests for online lessons should be made to the teacher preferably the day before, but no later than 12:00 noon on the day of the scheduled lesson.

  2. A substitute (e.g., a friend or family member) may attend the lesson in the student’s place. The substitute must be reported to the teacher in advance.

  3. The lesson can also be conducted via video instruction, where the student sends videos of their practice pieces to the teacher before their lesson via WhatsApp. The teacher will review the videos and send feedback and practice instructions during the student’s scheduled lesson time.
Teachers also have the right to conduct lessons online if they are unable to teach in person. The teacher will notify students of an online lesson by 12:00 noon on the day of the scheduled lesson. If a teacher’s absence is prolonged, a substitute will be arranged to ensure in-person lessons continue.

Events and Performances

  • Some semester lessons may be conducted as group lessons or events, providing private and small group students with valuable ensemble experience.
  • Some lessons may be replaced with performances.

Other Rules

  • Students are not insured by Musaamo.

  • Musaamo may record and publish content from lessons and concerts for its own and marketing purposes.

  • Musaamo premises are monitored by security cameras.

  • Lessons missed due to force majeure will not be refunded or compensated. Force majeure refers to unforeseeable circumstances beyond the service provider’s control that prevent the delivery of lessons. These include, but are not limited to, government actions, natural disasters, widespread epidemics and related precautionary measures, war, civil unrest, serious accidents, strikes, employer lockouts, or other extraordinary events of significant impact.
